How canon was started- the humble beginnings
In 1933, Takeshi Mitarai, Goro Yoshida, Saburo Uchida and Takeo Maeda founded Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory in Tokyo. Their first project was the development of a 35mm focal-plane-shutter camera in its prototype form known as Kwanon. In 1937 it became Precision Optical Industry, co.,Ltd. In 1942, Takeshi Mitaraji became the president of the company and in 1947, the changed its name to Canon Camera Co., Inc. In 1949, the shares were listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Canon advancing in Creation of cameras
The company produced its first cameras using Nikkor lenses since it did not have its own facilities to create lenses. In 1939 it started producing Serenar lens and in 1940, it developed Japans first indirect x-ray camera. Then it produced midrange II focal- plane-shutter camera followed by Canon S II. in 1952 Canon IVSb was produced which is the worlds first speed light 35mm flash and shutter camera. Later on, Canon and the NHK Science and Technical Research laboratories developed a television camera. An 8mm cine-camera, Canon 8T and together with Canon L1, they received Good Design product award. In 1958 it introduced a field zoom lens for television broadcasting.
Canon entered the micrographics and magnetic heads market in 1959 and introduced its first SRL camera and later developed a magnetic head for use in VTRs. it also worked optical fiber development and it introduced its X-ray mirror camera. In 1964 it introduced its first 10 key electronic calculator. In the next year it introduced Canofax 1000, a copying machine. It also entered the plain paper copier market and also in the production lf the four - channel, four track stereo recording heads. It also entered it the field of office computers by introducing Canonac 100 and 500, and it also introduced the worlds first PPC with the liquid dry system and the first full color PPC. In 1975 it developed a laser printer.

Canon has advanced in the production of products.
