Televisions: must-have items
Televisions have been in existence since the 1920s. They are now the biggest means of communication throughout the world. Since its inception, the television has moved on a fair bit and TV sets now come in LED, LCD, Plasma, and CRT formats. The big players in the television market include Sony, Samsung, LG, and Panasonic to name a few. With different technology and different sizes of televisions available, users should be able to find the perfect model to suit their needs.
What are the different types available?
There are many different types of televisions available depending on which type of technology you are after. But mainly there are three types: the first type is the LCD television or the flat screen television. LCD TV works with Liquid Crystal Display technology which uses a liquid crystal layer where light is shown to produce the moving pictures. These TVs are ideal for general viewing and can be used in bright environments like conservatories or kitchens. These TVs are thin and come in many sizes, offering sharp and bright images. Some of the limitations of LCD TVs are their limited screen size and poor level of black colour. The second type of television is the LED TV. It uses the same technology as that of the LCD TV, however LEDs deliver backlight instead of florescent tubes. LED TVs are even slimmer than their LCD counterparts, and come in every size. These are perfect for viewing nature and adventure programmes. The third type is the plasma TV: the picture is formed using tiny gas-filled cells that glow when charged by electricity. These TVs are manufactured with screen sizes of 37 inches and above and provide viewers with high quality contrasts.
What to look out for while buying a TV for yourself?
Before buying a TV for yourself, first check out the space available in the room where the television will live to get the correct TV size. Due to changes in technology, a 42-inch TV takes the same amount of space as a 32-inch TV used to take around 5 years ago. If you want to watch TV programmes, as well as use the internet, chat etc. then go for a Smart TV. Another feature to look out for while buying a TV are the audio video ports. Ensure, that the ports are compatible with other devices like DVD players, game consoles, and computers. For High Definition, a TV with ports for DVI and HDMI are important to look at.
