MEMUP Funklip MP3 player - 4 GB - black

After my Rio broke I was looking for a new mp3 player. I considered more expensive options but didn't want to spend too much as there is always the chance of losing or breaking it so decided to have a look at the cheaper options. At 14 quid, the Funklip can virtually be considered as disposable!

The spec seems to indicate anywhere from 4 to 14 hours battery life depending on where you read it but my experience suggests 7 or 8 hours continuous play on a single charge which is perfectly fine for me.

The 4gb built in memory is good to get you started but I liked the idea of being able to use cheap memory cards to expand this. I have ordered an 8gb card for 3.50 though I haven't tried it yet. But for 17.50GBP I'll have 12gb of storage which is plenty for me with the option of switching in a different memory card if I want to for unlimited memory. Thats pretty good value for money. In fact the player with memory actually costs less than a decent set of earphones!

On the subject of earphones, you wouldn't expect to get a good set with most players, especially at this price range but there are a set included to get you started but do replace them with a good set.

The clip design is really handy too. No need to put the player in a pocket when you can just clip it to your clothes. Its very light too so this is ideal.

The volume goes loud enough for me and there are a number of graphic equaliser options including one for extra base which works pretty well though no custom option.

The only real downside is the software which is a bit fiddly but I worked out how to use it in 2 minutes without reading the manual so its not too bad.

Over all I'd say this is an excellent player for the price.
