The first thing you'll notice with this set is the wonderful exterior. No doubt you'll be caught by the glittery 'midnight sky' finish and illuminated Sony badge. When you turn it on and get stuck in, you'll notice it utilises the very user friendly PS3-style menu system. There aren't a huge number of picture tweeking options on this set, which is fine because the picture doesn't need to much to get it to it's best. The clarity on this set is unrivalled by any TV I've seen at this size and price point. All the wrinkles and blemishes of Hollywoods elite are on display, many of which will not be seen on lesser TV's. Colours are extremely balanced, but still retain Sony's vivid feel. Black levels are simply outstanding for an LCD with real sense of richness and depth. The only drawbacks I can pick out are the sonic quality (which is hardlly ever good on a flatscreen anyway; and you should have a home cinema setup of some sort by now) and a very slight trace of motion judder in some fast moving scenes. This TV is a giant step forward both for Sony and LCD TVs at this price point. The only real contender I've seen is the Samsung 6 series (and the yet-to-be released 7 series) which has slightly better motion control, but it cannot match the Sony's insatiable appetite for detail.	+ Crisp clear picture; beautifully balanced colours; deep blacks	- Motion can result in slight traces of judder	13/09/2008	9 out of 10
