This power saving extension lead can be set to run like a standard surge protector by each socket acting independently, or can be set to power saving master and slave mode which only gives power to six slave sockets when master plug is being used.

This second configuration is very useful for devices that only need to be turned on when another device is in use (such as a printer, scanner, monitor, modem and speakers for a PC). The PC would normally plug into the master socket, so that all other devices that do not need power once the computer is switched off, can power down themselves saving you the need to switch each one off individually.
