This high performance telephoto zoom lens is ideal for taking photos with digital SLR cameras. In fact, it?s also great for portrait, sports and wildlife photography, as well as other types of photography that frequently use the telephoto range. This lens has three glass elements; two in the front lens group and one in the rear lens group, which reduce chromatic aberrations on long focal distances and create maximum colour balance over the entire range, and is made up of ecological lead-free glass.

I feel that this lens is great with its fantastic zoom and brilliant macro setting. This lens for me is great for nature and sports photography because of its zoom. However when you try to focus it does make a slight noise so if your close to a animal it may get scared, but that happends rarely. In conclusion i think that if you want great long distance shots with quick focusing get this, if you want a usm lens dont get this	+ Thepositive side to this lens is that it gives great shots and also gives the brilliant zoom	- The negative side is that when i try to take pictures of wildlife the focusing of lens is abit load	22/04/2007	9 out of 10

It\'s hard to argue at this price. It\'s not the prettiest or smoothest zoom, but who cares what it looks like and you\'ll soon develop the muscles to adjust the zoom - and at least it stays on teh setting. Remember to turn the focus on to one shot, otherwise it will continually hunt for that sweet spot. Generally an excellent piece of kit, and well worth the extra money over the cheap branded options, and well worth the saving over the more expensive lenses of the same range. The macro is very good, but you need to move away to get a perfect shot. Not intuitive, but once you know, you\'ll rack up the results.	+ the better the light the better the lens, giving pinsharp pics at a great price. Stands comparison with other non IS/VR lenses.	- zoom ring a little stiff and takes a while to get used to. front element rotates	02/04/2007	8 out of 10
