Canon has added to its EF-S series of lenses with the EF-S 17-55 mm f/2.8 IS USM, a standard zoom with a built-in image stabiliser. With image quality and design that rivals professional level Canon lenses, the EF-S 17-55 mm f/2.8 IS USM has become the EF-S standard zoom with the most potential in the EOS compatible series of digital reflex cameras.
With a large, constant exposure of f/2.8 on the whole focal point and the image stabiliser where the effect has a gain of 3 speeds of opening and closing. This lens assures high quality performance and allows for wide-angle shots, and photos in low lighting.
A series of high quality features ensures excellent quality clarity, contrast and rendition of colours. In order to guarantee high quality clarity and contrast, two aspheric lenses are also used. These lenses eliminate sphericity that degrades resolution, in particular for large exposure.
In synergy with the CMOS and EOS and their DIGIC II processor, the EF-S 17-55 mm f/2.8 IS USM produces very high quality images. Also, used in conjunction with the Canon Speedlite EX, this lens transmits information to the E-TTL II measuring system; information about the distance allows you to optimise the expsoure of the flash.
