The"holy grail" as far as I am concerned is to be able to hear all of the instruments and frequencies - even when the volume is reduced. For such a modest size, the YST-SW012 produces clear, natural-sounding transparent bass - without the artificial sounding muffled "thump" of lesser units. This great little subwoofer sounds wonderful with my system (Yamaha AS500 amplifier, DALI Zensor 1's and BOSE Acoustimass 5 satellite speakers, Philips CD850 CD Player). If you cranked up the volume I'm sure it's capable of "in-your-face" hard bass if required, but it is also capable of subtlety. I am very pleased with the unit. |
