Handy for storing films and music which would normally eat into the space on a smaller hdd. I opted for these slightly more expensive HDD's over the same capacity samsung drives due to the increased 64mb cache instead of samsung's 32mb. This enables short bursts of write speeds i.e. an album of music would be written to the cache quickly, then transferred to the hdd a little slower. Freeing up computer ram to do something else. This increased cache doesn't really help when writing files well over the cache value i.e. films. But using them for NAS drives, the addition of the odd album or camera load of photo's gives me that improved performance. |
