I bought this camera just last week. I had a few photo sessions indoors as well as outdoors. Result is fantastic. Night shot mode photos are really praiseworthy. I have noticed that up to ISO 200 photos are perfectly fine. Beyond this, sometimes there is a noise but that is understandable.
It is winter time in Ireland now so naturally hands will be shaking!! Overall, a nice camera. Very lightweight and easy-to-use Menu and other settings. Go for it.

Everything!! A compact High Definition Camera

Chose the Fuji FinePix S8000 fd as my first digital camera, delighted with it. All basic functions very easy to use. Still lots of functions to experiment with. Movie function very good and fun feature, need a memory card to get most out of this feature. Overall a very good value camera considering it has 18x zoom.

Excellent value for money

Low internal memory capacity

I have a good 35mm SLR and on older Fuji F401. This S8000fd does everything the F401 could do and more and is very comparable to my good 35mm (film). However the integral wide angle to 18x telephoto is very good for a camera of this price. I bought the package with case, 4GB SDHC card, 4xAA rechargeable batteries and charger and think this was good value for money. Although there are cameras with higher resolution this 8MPixel camera is way ahead of the older F401 I use. The F401 would allow me A4 colour prints without much trouble so as you might expect the quality from the S800fd is that much better.

There are a number of pre-programmed modes for the likes of Sport, Portrait, Landscape etc. These are all usable and save fiddling around with settings, required is you opt for full manual, but still give more appropriate settings than just leaving the camera on full auto.

Yes you can get a higher spec camera and yes you can get a cheaper model, but surely its about getting value for money and so far I believe the S8000fd delivers this for the Pixmania price.

Nice to handle. Easy to operate, full Auto right through to full manual.

Would have liked mains battery charger.power adaptor... but this available elsewhere

Overall, the selling price is reasonable and it's a new start-up toy for beginners or intermediates. I enjoyed using this camera except for night shoots which required high skills to obtain a good photo.

Good for the SUPER MACRO shoot.. Function is user friendly, simple and easy

Poor quality on night shooting
