Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V - platinum

Fantastic camera great colour subtle gold, this gives great pictures with no camera shake, perfect point and shoot, super video with clear sound. Photos in black and white are great too, the camera has other good features like background defocus, overall fab camera does every thing i need it to. 10/10

Good points:
Feature packed camera with full HD capabilities.
Numerous modes & settings for different conditions such as GPS, panoramic view, 3D pics mode, tracking focus, tilting playback [in correct mode take multiple shots while moving cam, then playback tilting left/right to see smooth playback of stills to look like video], download music to cams memory card via USB etc. Solid quality build with 16.2 mega pixels & 16x optical zoom. Dedicated video record button with HDMI out for larger viewing on your HDTV. Dedicated custom button for adjusting exposure, high res display with 4 way auto rotate when viewing pics. Dual M/S & SD card slot.

Best bit:
When teamed with the Sony IPT-DS2 auto party shooter, the camera becomes the photographer which uses face detection to search & take stunning shots leaving you to enjoy the party.

Bad points:
The images are far too vibrant; too bright and the colours are too full of warmth which do not match the reality of what the eye sees. Images can be blurry with signs of chromatic aberration present. The flash is far too bright and liable not only to overexpose shots but also to create flare from dust particles burning out pixels and making large circles on your images. The image quality for this price is just not up to scratch. The screen in live view mode is also a let down. It is very noisy, dark, and looks cheap. An annoying feature of this camera is the pop-up flash which is located just where you naturally hold the camera with your left hand. It is difficult to take an 'on the spur of the moment' shot with this camera as not only can it take up to 3 seconds to take the picture after you press the button but then it takes another 3 or 4 seconds to process each shot. The lack of RAW and the inability to be able to control the overly-bright flash lets this camera down. Panasonic Lumix TZ7 was a far better image quality at a fraction of the price.There are far cheaper cameras out there which will produce a better image.
