Our environmental policy

It has become essential these days to include environmental considerations in day-to-day decisions. The deterioration of the environment over the last few decades has been primarily due to an economy driven by the overconsumption of products and energy resources, at the expense of the ecosystem. As a result, the way companies are managed has changed.
Decision-makers now understand that the success of their companies depends on their respect for the environment.

• We can learn from nature. In a natural environment, a considerable number of interdependent species coexist in harmony within well-balanced ecosystems. We can learn from this and allow ourselves to be inspired by this harmony.
• Canon’s global corporate philosophy is Kyosei, a Japanese word meaning “living and working together for the common good”. This philosophy puts emphasis on mutual respect and understanding, and on harmony between individuals, technology and nature.
• Respecting the environment plays an important part in this philosophy. Canon has adopted an eco-technological approach in its work in order to create a harmony between ecology and technology. It takes environmental considerations into account in each of its activities, whether for technological developments, manufacturing or commercialisation.

Canon is strongly committed to protecting the environment and has been a member of the WWF Conservation Partner Programme since 1998.
